a563 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Hi everyone, I'm looking to apply for Stats or Biostats PhD programs for Fall 2014 entry. I was just wondering what weight is given to prerequisite math courses relative to stats courses taken in upper years. My marks in Multivariate Calc and Linear Algebra are not the best (B and A- respectively). However, my overall GPA is 3.7-3.8 (roughly, since I'm converting marks from a Canadian university), and I've gotten really high marks on almost all of my upper year stat courses, including two that were concurrently offered as grad courses (GLM and Statistical Inference). Basically, I'd just like to know if my good upper-year marks can make up for my less good ones from earlier. Any advice is appreciated!
