mrgreen102 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I was wondering if anyone knows anything about applying for two programs at the same university. I like both Georgetown's MSFS program and SSP program and each programs coincide with my career goals. Could I apply to both programs? Would applying to both have a negative impact on my applications?
dyavrom Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 you should ask each school that you plan to do that. some allow it, some dont.
bellefast Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 (edited) Well I did this. I applied this year at at school and applied to two different departments in the same college of ed. department. It was fine for me. You can apply for both but since I do not know about your program, some times you have to be careful because if the programs are 'close' or 'work' with each other, they will possibly talk to each other. This is what happened to me, but nonetheless I was successful and got into my top program at the school. No one can really say if it can negatively impact you. I did it and they did not care. Its depends on the people involve. I say go for it. No reason to leave yourself wondering. But I would ask because while i'm sure the school itself won't care(who will turn down another application fee) the department might. Ask the secertaries in both departments if it is okay to apply. They will likely be able to tell you. Edited May 14, 2013 by bellefast
mrgreen102 Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 The departments are pretty well connected. If you are part of one, you can take classes in the other. But the programs look at different things and the degrees are separate. I'll call then.
mrgreen102 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Posted May 17, 2013 For those who are interested, you can apply to both Georgetown's MSFS program and the SSP program at the same time. But the applications must be separate from each other.
