F during freshman year

How much will an F, Freshman year, in Statistics hurt my application?

 

My final GPA is a 3.79.

It is unlikely to be too significant, since you aren't applying to a program involving hardcore mathematics or statistics. Besides, you can try and explain it on your SoP and give a valid reason if possible, for getting an F in your freshman year. Good luck !

Thanks! And also, I should mention that I re-took the course the following semester and got an A.

 

It was really just a weird thing, it was an uncharacteristically difficult course for me the first go round.

Should be fine given it was in first year and your retake grade. Would suggest not even mentioning it in your SoP.

I would not mention it, especially considering it was your freshman year and your retook the course. And really - don't sweat it. I have personal experience in this arena with a very positive outcome. PM me for details if you would like.
