jwalker380 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 How much will an F, Freshman year, in Statistics hurt my application? My final GPA is a 3.79.
an11 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 It is unlikely to be too significant, since you aren't applying to a program involving hardcore mathematics or statistics. Besides, you can try and explain it on your SoP and give a valid reason if possible, for getting an F in your freshman year. Good luck !
jwalker380 Posted June 12, 2013 Author Posted June 12, 2013 Thanks! And also, I should mention that I re-took the course the following semester and got an A. It was really just a weird thing, it was an uncharacteristically difficult course for me the first go round.
soporific Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Should be fine given it was in first year and your retake grade. Would suggest not even mentioning it in your SoP.
ridofme Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I would not mention it, especially considering it was your freshman year and your retook the course. And really - don't sweat it. I have personal experience in this arena with a very positive outcome. PM me for details if you would like.
