IStand Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Dear all, I got admit from Rutgers/Ohio State/University of Cincinnati/Wayne state University for Master in Labor and Employment Relations/MHRM/ MS HR program. I also applied to PhD program at Rutger, but got rejection. Ultimately I wanted to go to PhD program in Labor/Employment Relations/Human Resource Program and for this I would like to use Master degree from top university as a stepping stone. Please validate this thought? I have already done Master in the Labor Relation degree from asia, which is not even in top 400 university. Some professors from US suggesting me to apply PhD directly. But If I compare my profile with the current student of Ivy league or Public leagues universities, I found I am not as eqaul as them. I have not publish any research paper in international journal, GRE score (303) is not at par with them, and most important I found many of them have done master degree from USA only. My question is : 1. Should I reappear for standardized test, GRE and reapply for PhD program directly for Fall 2014? OR 2. Should I go to Rutgers for Master program this year and after completing 1st semester, immediately apply for PhD for Fall 2014 OR 3. Should I reappear for GRE this year and will apply for Cornell, Columbia, MSU, MInnesota, and MIT Sloan for the Master program for Fall 2014 and will follow point # 2 strategy for Fall 2015 OR 4. I will welcome any new strategy from veterans. Best, Here I Stand
