Hi everyone,

I'm deciding which schools to apply for east asian studies... Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia and Duke all seem to have very good program... What would be some difference between the program at each school?

I'm originally from China and studied in the US for undergraduate in economics. I've been working in Beijing as a management consultant. My interest is in political economy and international relationship. I want to pursue a more in-depth understanding of the international relationship within Asian countries in the region as well as their relationship with western world in the realm of economic development (trade, currency, FDI, etc.) .

Any insight is greatly appreciated!!

Look at the faculty listings at schools that you're interested in and some that you're not. You should be able to figure out whether a school will be a good fit for you based on what the faculty's research interests are. Don't apply to a school just because it has a big name. If your interests don't match theirs, you almost certainly won't get in.

If you haven't been out of school for too long, I'd also suggest getting in touch with your former professors and asking for advice on applying to grad schools. If you get lucky, they might have some suggestions on schools for you to check out. (You're going to have to contact them eventually for letters of recommendation anyway, so you might as well get that out of the way too.)
