Cretorian Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Is it universal for the eldest son in a portrait to be carrying/near a sword while typical for the second son to be with a bow and arrow? I am finding a lot of paintings that adhere to this rule but could definitely use a second opinion.
