hi everyone-

i'm considering trying to make it to the HKS open house on October 28th. Anyone have any information on these open houses? are they useful? Do you get to meet people from the adcom? Is there any opportunity to make any kind of impression on HKS, or is it just to get a feel for the place? It's a pretty big schlep for me and i'm trying to decide if its worthwhile...

thanks!

Hi,

I live close by so I checked it out before starting application process last year. Here's what I would say: I wouldn't go to much trouble to attend. You won't really learn any more than you would by following the HKS admissions blog or asking a student on this forum or emailing the adcom. It will have zero impact on your application. However, if you're unfamiliar with Boston and unsure of whether or not to even apply, then it might be worth it.

thanks, appreciate the info. Do you think it's worth a trip from NY?

eh if you're only 3-4 hours away it might be worth it to check out cambridge. hks isnt much to see, and like I said, you won't learn a ton, so I'd go only if it was convenient.
