yhakak Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 hi everyone- i'm considering trying to make it to the HKS open house on October 28th. Anyone have any information on these open houses? are they useful? Do you get to meet people from the adcom? Is there any opportunity to make any kind of impression on HKS, or is it just to get a feel for the place? It's a pretty big schlep for me and i'm trying to decide if its worthwhile... thanks!
ohcoture Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Hi, I live close by so I checked it out before starting application process last year. Here's what I would say: I wouldn't go to much trouble to attend. You won't really learn any more than you would by following the HKS admissions blog or asking a student on this forum or emailing the adcom. It will have zero impact on your application. However, if you're unfamiliar with Boston and unsure of whether or not to even apply, then it might be worth it.
yhakak Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 thanks, appreciate the info. Do you think it's worth a trip from NY? ohcoture Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 eh if you're only 3-4 hours away it might be worth it to check out cambridge. hks isnt much to see, and like I said, you won't learn a ton, so I'd go only if it was convenient.
