NoSoundComes Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone is enrolled in or is familiar with Peabody College's Masters Degree + Teacher Licensure programs? I was hoping to get a feel for what people thought about the program in terms of being challenging and stimulating, quality of the teachers, if you get enough mentoring, and so on... Just general things! Last year I was accepted into Columbia University's Teachers College for the Applied Linguistics masters, and I was super excited...but the experience ended up being really disappointing (and not just for me!). I realized that if I had to do it again, I would definitely try to talk to actual students. I've always been interested in education and really enjoyed my classes in the subject at the Teacher's College, and I liked Peabody's program in that it's really designed for "career changers" like myself. But I wanted to see if anyone out there really had some unbiased opinions? I'd just like to hear about how people really feel about the culture there. I know it's an amazing school, but my experience with the Teacher's College definitely taught me not to judge a university by its prestige!
JBums1028 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I'm not familiar with this program, so unfortunately I can't specifically help you. But have you tried contacting the program and asking to be put in touch with a current student so you can ask them questions from a student's perspective? Most of the programs I'm looking at have automatically done this for me. But usually they have student ambassadors who can answer questions. You might get a slightly more biased perspective, but its worth it to try.
