r33d3n Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) I'm guessing this is the most appropriate place to post this. I'm trying to study art education, and I need advice on what kinds of programs/ majors are out there. I already have 2 years of teacing experience at the high school level (international student here btw), and I've also been involved with artivist activity. I want to equip myself to be able to teach a wide demographic, and in different settings, as in, I don't wish to limit myself to teaching at an art college when I return to my home country. My goal is to someday be able to design education program modules for schools and colleges here (not just art schools, any) which use visual arts and art appreciation as tools for developing critical thinking. Perhaps I'll be reaching out to schools in villages and helping them develop sustainable art practices in their institutions, or perhaps I'll be holding art workshops for garment factory workers. Basically I want my education to allow for a wide range of teaching possibilities. I'm pretty scatterbrained about my grad school search. Also, my other concern is, do most art education programs only entail a certification here, as opposed to Masters proper? And do the courses only cater to Amerian art college curriculum formats (as in preparing you to teach at an American university)? Also, Masters in Art Education vs. Masters in Education with focus on art? Anyone else seeking to study Art Education/ studying? Do advise. Quick Edit: I have a BFA [Painting] Edited August 19, 2013 by r33d3n
