Guest criminologist
I took the GRE for the first time last week just got my official scores today 156 Verbal (70%), 156 Math (65%) and 4.5 AW (78%). Schools I am interested in applying to are state schools like Maryland, Penn State, Florida, Florida State, for Criminology PHD program. The schools are ranked in the 50-100 range in US News. While these graduate programs are ranked by US news there are only 25 schools ranked unlike other programs which have many more schools so it is not a competitive field. I checked Florida's average scores for the admitted applicants and the scores are 150 Math, 156 Verbal over last 5 years. I have a 3.9 GPA in the same field and finishing my masters with 4.0 in a related field from good state schools. Would it be necessary to retake GRE ? My only concern is the scores may not be high enough to get funding but then again these are average schools and my other qualifications will be excellent
