mshields9 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I am new to this field, so sorry if this is a silly question. Would I be at a disadvantage if I received my MPH through an online program, or does it not make a difference as long as the program is accredited? I suppose I would rather attend a traditional classroom program, but continuing to work and take classes at the same time sounds like a great option. I would just hate to be at a disadvantage upon graduating. Any insight would be extremely helpful. Thank you in advance! MPH@GW Team 1
MPH@GW Team Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 MPH@GW is a CEPH-accredited online MPH program. Our online students study with the same faculty, complete the same degree requirements, and receive the same degree as our on-campus program. mpheels Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 I think it depends a lot on your prior experience and what you want to do with the degree. If the MPH is going to supplement another degree (MD, DO, BSN, etc...) or you are already working in the public health trenches, then online is great. It will give you a chance to learn a lot of public health concepts and technical stuff without disrupting your life too much. If you don't have any experience in public health or a related field, and you want to be a true public health worker, then I think traditional classroom program is worth it. There is a lot of out-of-class learning in campus based programs that you don't get online. You can make up for a lot of that if you're already working in the field.
