shrishinde Posted September 27, 2013 Share Posted September 27, 2013 Please review my profile and it would be great help if you could suggest me good universities based on my profile.10th standard: First class with distinction(77%)12th standard: First class with distinction(83%)BE(Electronics and Telecommunication): 3.2/4 from Pune univesity no backlogs, IndiaMS(Software Engineering, part time): 2.9/4 GPA from BITS Pilani no backlogs, IndiaWork Experience: 5+ years in Software industry, currently working with Symantec as SQA engineer.GRE: 298 (Verbal: 140, Quantative: 158)TOFEL is scheduled on 2nd of November.Please suggest me various options, any recommendations for making my profile more effective(again giving GRE exam is not on my list) and comment on my profile. DeleteMePlease Posted September 28, 2013 Share Posted September 28, 2013 (edited) Mh, I really would suggest retaking the GRE... Your quant score is kind of low but it still could be enough. However your verbal score is horrible. I guess most schools expect at least 50% and you are at approx. 10%. I am a non native speaker too and learning some vocabulary and reading the New York Times really helps. There are good apps to study vocab - e.g. "Painless GRE". If you do not retake the GRE try to score at least good at the TOEFL. Otherwise people might think your English is not good enough for grad school. Note that many schools also expect that you score good ( often >24) at the speaking part of the TOEFL if you want to be considered for a TA position. Also note that some schools will not accept your application because you already hold a masters degree. So check before applying.
