Good for you. Congrats. I'm sure you'll get funding. I was wondering more about a wait list I guess. I saw the results page... but I have yet to hear back from

Temple and have no new status update when I check the application. I'm sure it's a rejection, especially since so "many" have been accepted. Best of luck.

I kind of hope I don't because I just accepted another offer today. That would be a crappy place to be in.

I say "many" got in only because someone reported the secretary in the department told them that about 40 people were admitted. Hence, my doubts about funding.

Okay, add me to the "many." I received an acceptance letter from the DGS yesterday. He stated that they are still working out funding and will have it solidified within the next two weeks. It doesn't sound, from his letter, as though I am "waitlisted" for funding. More like I will have funding, they're just ironing out the details. But, really, I have no idea.

Not sure about Temple though... I hear it is in a terrible part of Philly. Anyone familiar with the area? Where it's best to live (OFF campus), suburbs? Living in Penn vs living in Jersey?

Still waiting to hear back from four other schools and waitlisted at one :)

Hey wrappedupinbooks,

I am not the one who posted the waitlist info on UT. I hate to break hard news... but from what I understand the waitlist is ENORMOUS (like upwards of 50 candidates) for the PhD program. And, you cannot find where you are situated on it because the department is not using the same ranking system that they've used in past years.

If you've received other offers, you may want to seriously consider them.

Wow! OK. So the letter says that this list is comprised of a select few..... but I see, it's more like a relative term. They must have had a lot of applicants.

I see we're in different areas, so I guess thats a good thing.

Nevertheless, good luck with all your schools.

Wrappedupinbooks,

What is your area of interest? I know the letter said "select few" but that really is a relative term. The good thing is that the department is wealthier than most and so has more "options" insofar as funding goes. The bad thing (and from what I understand this is very, very bad for anyone on the waitlist this year) is that there were like over 300 applicants. So, ouch. I guess all we can do is hope for the best -- good luck to you :)

I got my funding offer on March 23rd and needed to accept/reject it by March 27th. So it is possible that they will send another round of offers out soon. I hope this helps to anyone who is still waiting to hear about funding!
