aro Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I received my acceptance to NYU Steinhardt and Columbia, Teachers College for International Education. While excited, I am also confused as to which program I will attend. Does anybody here have to make the same decision between the two programs? Has anybody chosen already and happy/regretful of their choice? Help!
withjoy Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Could you give the reasoning behind the note for TC? I am making the same choice, although in a different program, and I'm leaning toward NYU Steinhardt. The NYU program fits my interests more closely and seems to be a more community focused program. That's important to me. They seem to put an emphasis on building community within the grad cohort and within the department. They are also working to offer more financial aid than TC, although that isn't set in stone yet. I'd like to hear why others are choosing TC, since I'm not completely sure yet.
ashley.minne Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 TC. if offered NYU and TC, and the same amount of funding, would anyone actually choose NYU? NYU's IED MA program takes 2 years to complete and requires and internship (aka you pay for those internship credits), while TC is one year- which in my opinion gives you the option to stretch the program length to 2 years, do an independent internship (and not pay for it!), and get the same degree. NYU's housing is also ungodly expensive. has anyone looked at that?!?!
aro Posted April 2, 2009 Author Posted April 2, 2009 I received an email a few days ago from NYU. To my complete surprise, I was awarded one of their major scholarships which cuts my tuition in half. You can't beat that. I'm still waiting on Columbia's financial aid decision although I seriously doubt they will be as generous. So right now I'm thinking NYU.
