Happydays2 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Hi Everyone, I'm an undergraduate interested in Latin American philosophy (especially Phil of Liberation and issues of Cultural Identity) does anyone know of any programs in which I can study philosophy abroad for a summer or semester in Latin America? Or any general advice on studying philosophy abroad? I have a gap year between my graduation and applying for M.A/PhD programs and I want to do something that might help my application. Also, studying abroad, in general, is something I've always wanted to do. Also, would anyone happen to have any other ideas on how to spend a gap year (besides studying abroad)? Perferably, somthing that can strengthen my application. The university I'm currently enrolled in does not offer graduate courses in philosophy. Last question: does anyone know of any terminal master's programs with someone working in the area of Latin American Philosophy? In case it is helpful, my other interests include American Phil and Existentialism & Phenomenology. Any and all input is welcome
Phil519 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 LMU, which has a terminal master's program, has one faculty member doing Latin American Philosophy and Race theory: Brad Stone. They also have strong offerings in Existentialism and Phenomenology. Also, I would look at applying for a fullbright if you want to take a gap year and study latin american philosophy/politics.
azpec03 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 If you know Spanish you should try UNAM in Mexico City great school. Enrique Dussel teaches there Good luck
