MS mechanical eng / petroleum Eng......please read and give advice

Hello  guys, I am prepping for the GRE ( well, that’s a bit stressfull). Ok, I studied mechanical engineering  during my undergrad, and i fell in love with thermodynamics and fluid mechanics then. I want to apply for a masters program, I am in a dilemma on choosing between mechanical and petroleum engineering. I will like to work in the oil sector ( if take a themal/ fluid option in mechanical will i be suited to work in this sector). I need an engineer to enlighten me on on both sides of the divide. i will be grateful.
