SOP biomedical engineering PhD review/exchange

I will PM if interested. I grew up very poor in an unstable family situation and have wrote about this in past applications to REU programs and such to segue into talking about my strong work ethic and appreciation of the opportunity for education. I've left it out for graduate school since I felt kind of cliche and depressing to bring out the I had a terrible childhood card and to simply make room to talk about my research and interests.Any comments on that and anything else will be greatly appreciated.
