Canadian Volunteering in USA

Hi there,

Was wondering if there are any Canadians who have volunteered in the US. Did you need any specific type of visa?
I want to volunteer at an animal santuary in Florida- I have found a couple of facilities to apply to and they provide housing and food, but no pay (strictly volunteer).
What kind of visa would I need to apply for, or if not, what documentation do I provide so I don't get denied entry?

 

Also, I plan to volunteer for 2-3months..
