hopefulstudent01 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Is there a consensus on this being pestering or acceptable? I have spoken to several PI's within the last two months. After applying, should I e-mail them again and remind them alongside a little note?
StatsNerd Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Unless they told you specifically to email them after you applied, I would not. Professors are super busy this time of year so getting a bunch of "hey, I just officially applied!!!" emails might piss them off. They know you're applying, that's why you contacted them in the first place.
hopefulstudent01 Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 It would be more than "I officially applied" - but I do understand your point.
PsychGirl1 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 They will see your application when it comes across their desk- the decision is out of your hands at this point basically. Just make sure all your materials are in with the admins and you're good to go.
leb4311 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I emailed the PI's with my excitement of having submitted, and I received positive responses across the board (especially from the ones who were particularly positive in the first place). I would just recommend keeping it brief.
