GPA and acceptance to Painting MFA programs

I'm currently applying to Painting MFA programs.  My GPA is currently a 2.86, but I'm taking classes over again in order to try to raise it.  I don't think I will be able to quite make it to a 3.0, will the schools I'm applying to hold it against me?
