Guest Jon Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I got the offer from both Vanderbilt IGP program and UT-Austin CMB program. It is really difficult for me to decide which one is better. The same reputation, similar stipend and living expenses. Vandy has the medical school in campus but Austin sounds like a better place to live. I would like to hear what you guys think. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.
fizpot30 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 I got my bachelors degree from UT Austin in spring 2020. Basically, I loved it here for the first 3 years. There are several coffee shops for you to do your work. The coffee shops are beautiful. The people here are a hit or miss (some are very pretentious). The nightlife is the best part (but COVID). I love my LGBTQ+ community here. There’s several job opportunities, several vegan options (expensive though but delicious), and several beautiful parks. The lake is also one of my favorite things. The negatives: rent is too expensive (live in riverside because it’s the cheapest, about $500/month), traffic sucks (literally sucks so much), and it’s not as diverse as people say. but here, I met the most wonderful people! UT Austin offers resources for broke students :)) For example: UT Outpost (free food when you are in need, also rent assistance, clothes for interviews), Lyft pass (they give you $200 credit for Lyft to get home safe from midnight-5am), and more! If you’re privileged, pls don’t use the Outpost though lmao. anyways, hope this helped!
