What schools still respect figurative painting aside from academies?

Where is a narrative figure painter to go? I want a school that is inclusive (not just figure, like the NY art academy), focuses on painting, within 200 miles of NYC. Any suggestions?

Check out the New York Studio School. I don't know much about their MFA program, but people seem to love studying with Graham Nickson!
