kakoli Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Hello friends, I am in a huge problem please help me out..I am already enrolled in a PhD program in my home country but the topic assigned to me by my supervisor is far away from my research interests..so I am thinking to apply for PhD programs abroad..but i am not very sure as from whom I should take the recommendation letters because I have carried out my Masters project under the same supervisor..so please help me as it is very urgent..
lzs Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Are there any other professors from your master's program who know you and your work well? Or if not, who wrote your LORs to get you into your master's program in the first place?
kakoli Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Yeah there are a few professors in my Masters program who know me well..but is it not necessary for me to include a reco from my Masters thesis guide..also I have some professors in my undergrad school who know me well..can i take reco from them also..please let me know..
emmm Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I don't think it's required to have any particular recommendations -- they probably would like a letter from your advisor under normal circumstances, but they'd probably understand that it would be awkward in this case. Good luck!
kakoli Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Can I take recommendations from a professor who taught me in the senior school??

Good luck! Thanks for your suggestion. I would like to ask if I can take recommendation from my teacher in the senior school.
Brisingamen Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 //I would like to ask if I can take recommendation from my teacher in the senior school.// Not the greatest idea. My understanding is that you don't go too far back for letters of recommendation... so senior school would be too long ago (plus, can people who taught you in senior school actually speak to your potential for doing research?) You are best off asking your undergraduate or masters' professors only.
