I plan to show up with a sign that says, "I want federal student loans and low tuition for public universities subsidized by the state, but refuse to pay taxes to fund these services!"

Alternately, there's a same-sex kiss-in campaign scheduled at Starbucks chains around the nation on tax day as a show of solidarity for all the same-sex couples who get SCREWED by not being able to have their relationship status recognized by the federal government, thus being forced in many circumstances to pay more money in taxes than they would if they'd been recognized as married and able to file jointly. That's the kind of righteous protest I can get behind.

Ummm, Starbucks? Really? Because Starbucks isn't run by the federal government, to my knowledge, or particularly gay-unfriendly. If I were going to do something like that, I think I would pick city halls or embassies or branches of the Fed, not Starbucks.

I heard they are thinking about repealing DOMA, though, which I think will both solve this problem and also lead to the eventual fall of anti-same-sex-marriage legislation.

The day of "tea parties" pushed by Republican operatives and partisan advocacy groups such as FreedomWorks, that sought to protest the Obama government's tax and stimulus policies by encouraging people to 'wave tea bags' brought about only a few hundred "tea-baggers" in most parts of the U.S., despite relentless promotion by Fox News TV hosts.

Participants had hoped to rally hundreds of thousands of people to begin a grassroots movement that would force Obama to change government policy. But the turn-out was far from what was hoped for, with most rallies looking decidedly on the small side, especially compared to the 2006 immigrants rights rallies or the 2004 pro-choice march on Washington, both of which attracted millions.

I'd say go visit the 19 (I think) states which have amended their constitutions discriminating against same-sex couples, and support the 4 states (I think) that have done right on this social issue.
