Harold Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) Hi, Area of Interest: Circuits I have already got admission in CMU ECE PhD program with full funding. I have also applied to other higher ranked schools and I am still waiting for the results. The deadline for Texas A&M Electrical is 1st March. Moreover, its tuition is low. Should I apply there to be safe ? But I do not wish to take a loan for studying. And is it better to have two options to choose if things change at the last minute? It may take around 6 years to complete the PhD program. while just 1.5 or 2 years in TAMU for its MS program. I dont want to go into academia. Edited February 20, 2014 by Harold
EngineerGrad Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Why the heck did you apply for a PhD in engineering if you do not wish to be in academia?
Harold Posted February 20, 2014 Author Posted February 20, 2014 There are job prospects after PhD. Actually, percentage of students preferring jobs than academia after PhD is more. The second reason is funding.
trimcao Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Which CMU is that? If you meant Carnegie Mellon University, how on earth do you want to apply to A&M?
Harold Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Yes I mean Carnegie Mellon University. Just to be safe, to get another admit.
