Sofi4 Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hello!! I have been notified today of my acceptance on a Master's course for Clinical Mental Health. I have been given a 30% Dean's Scholarship (so grateful)... however I really need more financial help! I am from the UK and have only applied to one university in the US so cannot do the whole leverage thing of being offered more at another uni. Is it even acceptable to ask for more? Or perhaps ask to apply to more scholarships (sounds less obnoxious?!) Ahh so excited but now so worried about how to pay! ( I am paying student loans from my undergrad studies, I am financially independent and don't earn that much in my current job so basically paying tuition is completely off the cards!) ANY advice would be so appreciated!! Thank youu
bluemuffinfairy Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 You might want to try contacting the school's financial aid office. Even if they can't do straight-up funding they might be able to tell you how to apply for work-study/assistantships. Hope that helps!
shesagift Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I am in the exact same boat as you. I've contacted the program director asking if there are other scholarships available as well as financial aid to inquire about loans, etc. In both emails, I hinted that the cost burden was too large for me to be able to commit to, so I'm hoping that pans out. If not... hello to life-long, high interest debt hanging over my head :/
