hsgr87 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 This Fall I decided to apply to MPH and MSPH programs, and was excited to find out recently that I have been accepted to Johns Hopkins' MSPH program. From what I've read, Hopkins' MSPH program seems to be notably different from their MPH program and substantially different from other similarly competitive MPH programs. I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me a little bit about the benefits and drawbacks of Hopkins' MSPH program. For some additional context, I plan to focus my studies on Health Policy and Management (regardless of where I ultimately attend school). Employers: is there any difference in your eyes between a job candidate with an MSPH from Hopkins versus an MPH from a comparably competitive school? Former Hopkins MSPH students (or even MPH if you want to weigh-in): 1) What were some of your preconceived ideas about the MSPH program prior to entering Hopkins, and how did these perceptions/feelings change once you were enrolled in the program? 2) Upon reflection, did you think the work placement was ultimately worthwhile, or do you feel you may have been better served taking more courses? 3) Any general thoughts on what most compelled you to enroll? Finally, if there is anyone out there that found themselves in a similar situation, but ultimately chose a different program, I'd love to hear some of your reasons. Thanks much to anyone and everyone who is able to offer some outside perspective. hsgr87 1
