Gouku Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) I have a question regarding the wording in HKS' Public Service Fellowship. It says: ''As a demonstration of their commitment, successful applicants must be professionally employed in the public sector, broadly defined, for three years upon graduation.'' We all know what public sector is. My question is what do they really mean when they say ''broadly defined''? What does it include? For example, do they count the NGO sector as public too, or what? Any ideas? We have to hand in the applications tonight, so any info until then is extremely useful. Thank you all! Edited February 27, 2014 by Gouku
Gov2School Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 What they mean is "public sector, not limited to government". So the NGO sector is generally considered to be part of the public sector, as are non-profits, the World Bank, NATO, the UN, etc. Probably working for a charity or serving in the military could also count. Basically, if you can make the case that what you were doing was primarily for public service rather than generating profits, you could probably count it.
Gouku Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Thank you, that's what I was thinking (and hoping for) too. Cheers and good luck to everyone!
