yosemite Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 I have been accepted to Stanford MS CS program and to Cornell PhD Program. I originally applied to Stanford's PhD program but was accepted only for the Master's Program without any financial support. Cornell's PhD offer is with financial support for all the years of my PhD. I am interested in Theory and in the long term I want a PhD degree. So even if I choose Stanford's program I will apply again for PhDs after finishing the Master. I am really in a big dilemma and any help and advice would be helpful.
belowthree Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Are you kidding? Take Cornell's offer. I don't even see how this is a tricky decision unless you have tons of money you don't have a problem lighting on fire to go to Stanford where they won't even care about you anyways because no one actually cares about MS students... There seems to be some reasons you really feel like you should go to Stanford? Is it something other than name recognition? If so, what are they?
mallyajiggs Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Cornell has really excellent Theory faculty !!! have you not seen the faculty list ?? John Hopcroft is a part of the elite faculty in cornell... take the offer !!! no second thoughts
