Does anyone know what is the chance of being accepted off of wait list? Is it appropriate to ask where I stand on the list?

I was wait-listed last year and didn't get into either of them, but they never told me how high I was on the list, after I asked. I think it's appropriate to ask, just call or e-mail and ask kindly and reiterate that you are excited for the opportunity to attend.
