A Dalek Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) I did my undergraduate in Economics and doing a Master's in it currently. However, if I'm truthful with myself, I'm more interested in Sociology work than Economics. I do believe that Economics has some useful research methods and that is why I am doing my Master's in it, but I'm debating whether I should go for my PhD afterward or switch over to Sociology for my PhD. I'm concerned that if I end up getting an Economics PhD I might have a hard time finding employment in a Sociology department. Ideally I'd want to get into Cal Tech's Social Science PhD program since it'd allow me to do interdisciplinary work between the two field, but failing that I'm not sure. I find it a bit silly that the two fields haven't synthesized into a new field but oh well. Anyone else in a similar situation? Edited March 8, 2014 by Frank Knight
