SUNY Stony Brook

Has anyone heard from Stony Brook? I have heard from the other programs but they were all MA programs. I was accepted in those programs but am anxiously awaiting to hear from Stony Brook.

I know someone who was accepted to the PhD program via e-mail on 3/7 and saw some acceptances go up on the board. I also applied there, but one of my mentor's used to work there and found out from an inside source that I was not accepted. While I have yet to receive a rejection or wait list, I don't know if they accept in waves, but I haven't seen any rejections or wait lists go up on the results board yet. You could always shoot the English grad director an e-mail inquiring about your status. Best of luck!

I emailed her today and was told that they just made decisions and they would be sending out letters by the 15th. I suppose she was trying to spare me the rejection on the spot. I saw the posting on the results page and am pretty sure I won't be getting in. Still holding out hope until the end of the week I suppose.

It's frustrating that she couldn't just tell you your status. Sending good vibes your way, poetstar. Maybe you made it or made it to the wait list. Fingers crossed for you.

This process has been a roller coaster ride and still remains one for me, as I'm on quite a few wait lists and still waiting to hear about funding on my acceptances. I thought it would be more straightforward in terms of getting acceptances and rejections, rather than being in limbo until April! Thanks for the well wishes-- I hope everything works out for you! I was one of the Stony Brook acceptances, and heard via email on 3/7. I talked to the director today, and he told me they are only taking 5 people this year. I don't think they've put out wait list notifications yet, though, so there's still hope for that! The director is very nice, too, so don't be afraid to contact him and ask.

I had a really nice convo with the graduate director today! He was really down-to-earth and HONEST, which really sat well with me! I'm pretty sure I'll accept their offer, but I won't know 100% until I visit on March 31st!

Hi, all! Just wondering who else I'm going to get to meet on Monday for the group visit day! I'm pretty darn sure I'm accepting their offer (unless, of course, it turns out they're a bunch of flesh-eating zombies or something!), so I'm hoping some people from my soon-to-be cohort might be lurking around here :)

Indeed I did, and I couldn't be more thrilled I literally had trouble sleeping last night I was so excited for the visit!!!!!!!!!!
