Housing of Columbia University

Hi! I am a newly admitted graduate student of Columbia University. Recently I am considering applying the Columbia's housing. I've noticed that the Arbor residential area at Riverdale, Bronx is much newer than the old ones at Morningside Heights and provides better amenity. However I've heard about that the security of Bronx is not so good. So I wonder whether there is someone living in NYC who could tell me more about it, especially the security condition of Riverdale.
