Any one else been having panic attacks, freaking out, feeling anxious and confused, and general unwellness lately?

These past 2 months have been so hellish..Little to no sleep...and no that I've made my choice...I'm still feeling like "did i pick the right program?"

ahhh

After sending in my letters to decline programs, and accepting at UT, I got a call last night from my advisor at my number 2 program. He wanted to let me know that they found even more funding for me, and that although he didn't want to "send me spinning into a tizzy" he wanted to let me know that the offer will stand until the end of the month (what good does that do me?!?).

So what did I do?

I went spinning into a tizzy.

It was a really hard decision to turn them down, and I found myself second guessing everything that I had signed up for. I called two of my LOR writers and they talked me down from the ledge, but it's still just as painful to decline them a second time. I feel like either program would be a good fit, but the departmental climate and security of the funding they're offering are very different. I'm sticking with UT, but I suppose it's flattering that they would go out of their way in the final moments to try and score another point.

I knew something like this would happen, as soon as I thought I could breathe easy and rest assured that everything was OVER.

I am freaking out as well. I am accepted at one school which is already having people sign up for classes and waitlisted at another that I would rather go to. I am hoping to get some word today or tomorrow. I have been putting off accepting my other offer in hopes of getting into this one. I just want to know already!!!! Gah!

Well, congrats to you guys for having acceptances!

I'm waiting to be off the waiting list one way or the other at Austin, and this is pretty much the only one that worked out for me out of a total 4 applications.

i applied to 14 schools and i used project 1000 for 7 of them.

you should check out IRT and other programs that help you apply for graduate school. they might be of great help to you..

i beleive the IRT deadline is coming up soon. go to https://www.applyweb.com/public/newuser.pl?s=andirt

Thanks, I will look at that stuff.

All in all, I was happy applying to 4 schools though, and didn't apply to more because I didn't really want to. And I didn't want to spend more time and money on applications for schools I wouldn't really go to anyway. The only thing was that I was torn about not applying to the PhD program in my current dept and at UofToronto. But again, I wanted to leave Toronto so I'm glad I didn't apply there either. Oh well!
