yingoriental Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 (edited) Yingoriental, I'm actually not Chinese. I've spent the past two years living in Yunnan (大理附近), but I'm actually American. The competition for Chinese applicants seems to be incredibly intense... hats-off to your accomplishments! If name is a consideration, I'd wager to say that UChicago definitely outdoes BU. Chicago is also a very good city. I'm currently leaning towards HDS given that the professors there have been INCREDIBLY supportive of me so far (no negative comment on UChicago, they've been solid as well), and I really like the collaborative atmosphere Sorry that I mistook your ID as a Chinese name, because its spelling matches Chinese pronunciation! What kinds of researches are you focusing on? May I know what thrilling findings about Tibetan Buddhism you discover around Dali? You must spend time learning Tibetan language and Chinese! So far as I know, Chinese is almost the last one that foreigners are willing to learn.XD Thanks for your kind advice! I expect academic growth when studying in UChicago. Congrats to your decision! Now it is a new start and set out to involve into a liberal community. Good luck! Edited March 29, 2014 by yingoriental
yingoriental Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Hi yingoriental! That's so funny. I'm in basically the exact same situation at the Qinghua girl with HDS, except that I studied there only for one year as an undergrad exchange student last year! What are the chances! Is your alma mater Qinghua/Tsinghua as well? Congrats to your admission and scholarship at HDS! Which year and sub-school did you spend your exchange year in? I may disappoint you that my undergraduate school is not Qinghua. What about your decision? And I PM you.
