malgietj Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Hello everyone, I am looking to see if someone can answer a couple of questions I have about applying for a Ph.D in oceanography. I am currently a graduate student in Geology and have a B.S. in geology from a small state school in New York. I work with Deep time sediments and stratigraphy but am looking to expand into the modern for Ph.D or go a different route in Oceanography. My question is, with a B.S. and M.Sc in geology, am I qualified to apply for a Ph.D position in Oceanography or do I need to go back and look at getting another masters in Oceanography? Any insight would be most helpful. Thanks
GeoDUDE! Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You are qualified; People tend to fall into the earth sciences. I'll have a masters in geology after taking only 2 geology courses, and be in a PhD program next fall with the same amount of courses. People come from different paths. Apply for the PhD.
