Hello everyone,

I am looking to see if someone can answer a couple of questions I have about applying for a Ph.D in oceanography.  I am currently a graduate student in Geology and have a B.S. in geology from a small state school in New York.  I work with Deep time sediments and stratigraphy but am looking to expand into the modern for Ph.D or go a different route in Oceanography.  My question is, with a B.S. and M.Sc in geology, am I qualified to apply for a Ph.D position in Oceanography or do I need to go back and look at getting another masters in Oceanography?  Any insight would be most helpful.

Thanks

You are qualified; People tend to fall into the earth sciences. I'll have a masters in geology after taking only 2 geology courses, and be in a PhD program next fall with the same amount of courses. People come from different paths.  Apply for the PhD.
