Canadian students, late funding provision

Hello,

 

I'm starting my M.A this fall at Carleton, but I do not have a funding package with my acceptance. When I spoke with the program head, she told me that it is possible that funding may come in late, especially because I am an international student. However, I have a friend who is an international student but received a lot of funding with his acceptance offer. 

 

At this point I am a bit worried and want to start looking for other external funding options but the avenues are very slim for my situation. I would like to know if anyone was ever offered funding well into their program. How far gone were you in the program before you were re-assessed for funding? I appreciate all responses, thank you.
