People who couldn't complete your program/fellowship/etc, how did you cope and what did you do afterwards?

Hello everyone. I was selected as a Fulbright ETA but had to leave early due to serious medical complications. I've been back for some time now and it hasn't been easy adjusting to life back home. Even worse it's difficult to stay in touch with my cohort because I'm constantly reminded of the experiences I now don't get to experience firsthand. I doubt this is the common thread here but I'm curious as to see what people have done after having to quit their program.
