sunshine Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Hello, I just found out that I've been accepted to Stanford's MSCS. I don't have a guarantee of financial aid, and will have to find it on my own (i.e. a prof to work with). I also understand it is 50% courses and 50% research. Does anybody know more about this program? is it a good choice? My final goal is doing a PhD. Thank you, Simina
montage9 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Hi Simina, I will be applying to Stanford for MSCS program for Fall 2010. I would like some pointers w.r.t to GRE scores, SOP and general advicse that would help improve my chances. Thanks for your time. Regards, KP
pogopuschel Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I'd like to bring this thread back up again. Does anyone have first-hand experience with the program?
ssk2 Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I have a friend who was admitted. It's incredibly competitive (especially the last couple of years) and your application needs to be very strong to get in. GREs in the 90th percentiles, a very high GPA and strong letters of recommendation. This paper explains the US application process in more depth and was written by a student who was part of the Stanford admissions committee, so it might give you an idea of what they're looking for (even though it's supposedly aimed 'generally') - http://actr.nsk.ru/eic/info/Karthik.pdf
pogopuschel Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks. I'm actually not too worried about being admitted, I was more looking for general feedback about the program and its reputation (which isn't that great according to some people).
