DocBLAH Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Hello, I'm going to be going for my Au.D. next year. I should have a good application package 330 or so combined GRE, good references, ok GPA in Neuroscience and Engineering, lots of research experience, etc. Here's the issue, I NEED to get funded. I have a wife and two kids and I am in my 40s, so I can't just run up 100K in loans (I'll be 70 before I pay them off). So have any of you gone to: NIU, Iowa, Northwestern, U of I Urbana Champaign, I U Bloomington, U W Madison, Colorado Boulder, Utah State U ? I actually have experience as a grad student so I know the general story, I know PhDs get better funding, etc. etc. etc. I need specifics for THESE Programs. Do you go to one of them? Or did you get offered funding when recruited? Did you get funded at one of them? Or do you know a lab-mate or friend who is getting funded as an Au.D.? What can you tell me? I'm most concerned about a school giving me funding for the first year, and then leaving me in the cold for years 2 - 4. I will work as hard as humanly possible to make sure that they would never want to do this, but I need to know what I'm getting myself into.
