ARJS ... thank u very much. I hope u all success in ur second application. Is POI is the Dr u specified in ur application? I specified 3 names as Professors i am interested in. Which one do u think will make the interview?

Thank you for your kind wishes annona. Yes the POI is the Dr I mentioned in the application. If u mentioned 3, I think the one who'd find ur application most interesting or the one who's area of research befits ur area of interest would contact u for interview. In American universities, I believe it is futile but as far as Europe or the Middle east are concerned it is better to contact the POI first and acquire their consent. The POIs advocate / recommend ur application at the adcomm meetings after all. So it is a matter of 'should' and not that of a 'must'. So if u did not it should be totally fine as many profs decide to interview candidates on the face of application.
