b2hk2s Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) FLAS Academic year 2015/2016: I really need your insights. I am a heritage speaker of Turkish. I formally studied it until I was 10 years old back in Turkey and stopped, but continued to read it and teach myself. I am now in a master's program at a very prestigious and strong University here in the U.S. and taking Turkish (advance level) to improve my writing and communication skills to be able to write/research in Turkish and actually contribute to and influence intellectual discussions with native Turks. I am considering applying for a FLAS fellowship next year. Some schools are very clear that they do not give FLAS to native, near native or advance language learners. My current school has a gray policy on this. Do you think I have a chance? Any recommendations on how to present a strong case? Thank you all. Edited October 25, 2014 by b2hk2s
