Hi everyone,

I'm trying to apply for Msc CS programs in the following grad schools. Can anyone shine some lights on the possibility of getting admitted?

Stanford

MIT

UC Berkeley

UIUC

My quick background:

GPA: First Class (UK system) from a Russell Group University, equivalent 3.75 GPA. I spent a year abroad in UIUC where I got 3.88.

Degree: Mechanical Engineering (specialised in Robotics and Control System)

Award:

The Institution best student (Top 1 in the class) awarded by IMECHE (counterpart of ASME in UK)

First prize of Control system design for hybrid boat power system awarded by Thales Group (European's 2nd largest defence company)

GRE: 156,167,3.5(V&Q&AW)

Work Experience: three years control system R&D engineer developing propulsion systems for Boeing and Airbus latest aircrafts.

LoR: should be decent. The one from my academic supervisor should be "extremely positive" as he quoted.

Paper: unfortunately most of my work cannot be published and my projects in the uni are highly application-focused.

I do realize my GRE is quite low-disadvantage of being an International student. Would it severally impact my chance of being admitted? Should I retake the exam?

Thanks, everyone!

What CS coursework did you take?

two years of computer base modeling

one year of computer control, mechatronics, Robotic systems and systems and control engineering.

Related uni projects include building a self-navigating mission oriented robots, self-locating robot with particle filter localisation.

My final year project was building a concept demonstrator of a torque vectoring electrical vehicle for a large automobile company.
