aero Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) The reason why I've titled my post "Re-applying-properly" is because I have already failed once, and I am not going to do that again.. I have a Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from a well respected university in the UAE and am looking forward to applying for Msc in Mechanical Engineering in the United States 7 Canada. Stats are as follows: GPA: 3.06 Major GPA: 2.75 Research Experience: 1 year with my professor. Publications/Presentations: 1 presentation at a reputed aerodynamics conference (1st author) Activities: Engineering Software developer. Worked on two major projects 1. Digital DATCOM for Android (published on the play store, but now discontinued due to lack of demand) 2. Object Oriented gas turbine software for the PC. (In the works and in collaboration with a professor) Work Experience:Currently an Engineering Support Coordinator for a major airline in the middle east. Where my Interests are: 1. CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) tools and their development 2. Gas Turbine cycle analysis and optimization. I had applied to the following universities for fall 2014: 1. Purdue 2. Rutgers 3. U of Florida 4. Rutgers 5. Texas A&M Yes, wrong choices, I know, especially given my poor GPA. Quite obvious, I got rejected from every single one. I am looking forward to re-apply again for Spring/Fall 2016 and hence I need suggestions regarding which universities to apply to given my profile and not just from the prospect of 'getting-in' but also in the distant time frame such as placements opportunities. Texan_Air Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Are you applying to for a Masters in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering? Your profile says ME but your application and interest seem toward Aerospace more. PM me and I can help you out with a list of US schools to look at. My GPA is sub-par and I am appying for Fall 2015.
chaudhry Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi I do know that GRE scores matter. What's yours. You are from UAE, Masdar Inst. has a good reputation over there. Also, I heard that nationals are quite preferable there. There is no match for US universities though. I do wish you best of luck Regards
