Anthropology Writing Sample

I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this, but I'm applying for several PhD programs in anthropology, and I'm looking for some feedback on a paper I wrote last semester about Maya blood-letting and sacrifice practices. I want to use it as a writing sample, but would like different people's perspectives on what could be improved.
