gentle_dove Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Hi, The situation is that the only complete and satisfying work I have is an essay based on purely literature. I gave it to a writer of recommendation of mine for comments, and she said that although this one is quite good, it would be better if I could submit something with analysis of primary data, because graduate schools would like to see that I've really done empirical research. However, the only empirical paper I have is still in progress. The data-collection was done in the summer and I've been writing it for months, hoping to use it as a writing sample, until I realize that I would not be able to finish before the deadlines T_T. However, as I've got half of it ready, would it be helpful for me to submit the three sections as a supplement document, with a note saying that this is cut from a paper in progress?? Thanks!!
Chianti Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 This is a late response, but yes. I and my friends all submitted in-progress theses to our prospective programs. If the program wishes to read the finished product they will let you know.
