eugeniok Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 What schools, if any, have good sports diplomacy programs? As far as I'm concerned, I don't see any school offering any courses in sports and its impact in the IR world. I do see a graduate of Fletcher having written a thesis on a similar topic but that's about it. Any ideas?
Cornell07 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 What a fabulously interesting idea! It makes me think of this Financial Times article I ran across a few weeks ago: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b873413a-51ea ... abdc0.html
NadirLineage Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I read recently about Northeastern University's "Sport in Society Center." It's not exactly IR related, but I thought you might be interested. http://www.northeastern.edu/sportinsoci ... index.html There's also an article that incorporates that office and Obama's recent formation of the "Office of Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Sport." http://www.northeastern.edu/news/storie ... ciety.html
zourah Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 What a fabulously interesting idea! It makes me think of this Financial Times article I ran across a few weeks ago: http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/b873413a-51ea ... abdc0.html A game in which they managed a stunning 1-1 tie that left John Stewart wailing about how much soccer sucks, then followed with four players "retiring" for their show of support for Mousavi and the opposition. Not sure that ended up being the best example after all...
