letvasq92 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 This is somewhat of a dumb question but I have been emailing the SW Luskin Welfare about it and haven't received an answer: Since UCLA is in California (PST), when they said the fellowship deadline was December 15, 2014, I assumed that meant I had until 11:59 PM PST to submit my application. However, when I submitted, the time postmark said 2:11 EST on 12/16...do y'all have any idea if that is the time/date stamp UCLA will be considering? I also changed the Application Certification at the end to reflect 12/15/2014 because I was under the impression I should sign according to PST.
Za3lana Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Did you find out about this, because I did the exact same thing and they never replied to me either.
letvasq92 Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Nope, they never did. :/ Have you been accepted to the program? If so, guess we'll find out when we get the official acceptance letter in the mail.
Za3lana Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Yea, guess we'll wait and see. Side note: HOW DID I DO THIS AGAIN WITH FAFSA LAST NIGHT?? Like how and why are California deadlines not on PST? Ughhhhhh -______________-
letvasq92 Posted March 4, 2015 Author Posted March 4, 2015 Ugh, yeah I don't know. I just think that those types of things ought to be explicitly stated on the website if they really do go accordingly to a specific time zone (like EST). Otherwise, people living in California or Hawaii or Texas...just yeah, their applications would be turned in "late" and that isn't really fair for them if they didn't have a reason to think otherwise (in terms of turning in the applications around midnight their time).
letvasq92 Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 I finally got a reply from Lance Fooks about this, because I wanted to know if I was even considered for the fellowship due to this timing issue. He told me that the time zone thing was not an issue for why I didn't get considered for the fellowship. So although wah for the "no fellowship" thing, yay for finally knowing that (at least for UCLA) the time zone they consider for deadlines is PST.
