Gender Climate Group for Applicants

On the recommendation of a friend who went through the application process last year, I'd like to start a private, climate-for-women-applicants group on Facebook. The following are welcome: transgender women, CISgender women, women of all sexualities (and no sexuality), and anyone else who lives everyday life as a woman (whether publicly or in secret, and whether by choice or not). If you're interested, private message me your info and I'll add you on FB. Actually, I can't create the group until I have at least one other member. If you'd prefer to have the group on this site instead (or in addition), perhaps for the sake of anonymity, I encourage someone familiar with the forum tech to start a private thread. If you do, please add me! A more general LGBT+ group would surely also be useful.

 

This is meant to be a confidential, supportive space. Last year there was initially some argument over the value of having such a group. If you don't see the value in it, simply don't opt in. I am told that this was a wonderful experience last year, and it will be good to exchange our climate experiences, especially after campus visits. For my part, I am currently at Rutgers, and I'm very, very pleased with the climate in our department.
