Yodeler Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I've been applying to psychology/cognitive neuroscience PhD programs for Fall 2015 admission. I have applied to 8 schools but never included the In-major GPA. It was not included on my transcript and at first I didn't know which courses to include to compute it. As far as I can think of, only Harvard and NYU had blanks for In-major GPA. Do you think not including the In-major GPA would negatively affect the consideration of my applications? Do I need to send it separately to the admissions office? (The deadlines have passed)
PschoolPsychology Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 This is my first application cycle, but I feel like that's a pretty minor error to make since you've already presumably provided them with your academic transcript. If they have a line for your in-major GPA on the application then you probably should have computed it and entered it at the time, but at this point I wouldn't worry about it since deadlines have passed.
psych face Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 The applications I saw that on wouldn't even accept it without the form completed, so I had to figure it out myself. There were a lot of "odd" types of GPA numbers I had to calculate in this manner, so I got used to it. (one school just wanted senior level, one wanted junior and senior level, one wanted major, etc. totally annoying)
